Eden Prairie, Mn - Charlie Sheehan the civil engineer major at St. Louis University is putting the skills he is learning in the classroom to good use on the baseball field too. The senior right handed pitcher from Eden Prairie, Mn has "constructed" a very respectable career during his time with the Billikens.

Just a few weeks into the 2020 season, Sheehan's workman-like performance has provided the Billikens pitching staff the middle relief foundation that has resulted in 2 team wins in each of his appearances. In his latest effort, Sheehan's 3 innings of work was enough to earn him the victory (1-0), a 2-1 victory over the Ohio University Bobcats. The performance included 4K's, 0 hits and 0 runs which extends his season to a 0.00 ERA over 5.1 innings.

It’s not a surprise to the Billiken coaching staff, or those back home in Minnesota who have followed his career. Sheehan was a standout on the Eden Prairie High School and Eden Prairie American Legion baseball teams. As a high school junior he compiled a 4-1 record with 23 strikeouts over 20 innings pitched. He continued that success through that summer with the American Legion team, where he posted a 1.40 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched. His pitching acumen and talent earned him Central Region Honorable Mention with PerfectGame, who ultimately ranked him the 18th best recruit in Minnesota and the 7th best pitcher.  He was recruited by several universities and ultimately landed with the Billikens.

Since arriving on the St. Louis University campus, Sheehan has engineered a solid career having contributed substantially each of his 4 seasons.  During his career he has appeared in 55 games, 109 innings, and posting a 3.57 ERA with 98 strikeouts. While serving most of his collegiate career in the capacity of middle relief, he has tallied an all-time record of 6-2. Those are the kind of workman-like results that follow an individual throughout life, on and off the field.

The Billikens currently 4-1, look to build on their recent 4 game win streak as they complete the three game series with the Ohio Bobcats Sunday afternoon. Later this week, Sheehan and team have a formidable opponent in Vanderbilt University. That game will be played in Nashville, Tn on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm and can be seen on the SEC Network or track live stats through the streaming game website.
